The SKOT (Střední Kolový Obrněný Transportér) or OT-64 is an 8x8 wheeled, amphibious armored personnel carrier jointly developed by Czechoslovakia and the People's Republic of Poland in the late 1950s and early 1960s.
The SKOT armored personnel carrier (also known as OT-64) is an 8x8 wheeled combat vehicle developed jointly by Poland and Czechoslovakia. The SKOT had many different versions, including the SKOT-1, SKOT-2A, and SKOT-2AP. It was used for infantry transport and battlefield support.
This vehicle was created as a result of cooperation between the Polish and Czechoslovakian industries. The first prototype was presented in 1959, and the SKOT became the first modern combat vehicle to be mass-produced and introduced into the equipment of the Polish armored and mechanized forces.
The designations SKOT and OT-64 were used interchangeably, but the vehicle was known worldwide as the OT-64. The SKOT armored personnel carrier had a significant impact on military armament and the history of Poland and Czechoslovakia.
