The SA-9 Gaskin is a Soviet armored anti-aircraft vehicle based on the BRDM-2 chassis. Equipped with four SA-9 (9M31 Strela-1) surface-to-air missile launchers, this vehicle provided mobile air defense for ground forces. The SA-9 Gaskin is characterized by excellent mobility due to its amphibious capability and independent suspension, allowing it to operate effectively in various terrain conditions. As is typical of Soviet designs, the focus was on mass production and simplicity of operation rather than crew comfort or precision engineering. The vehicle was widely exported to many countries, including Poland, Egypt, Syria, and other Eastern Bloc states, where it was used in various armed conflicts.
