Historical Overview:
The IS-1 was the first tank in the IS series, designed in the Soviet Union during World War II as a response to German heavy tanks. Armed with an 85mm gun, the IS-1 had stronger armor and better mobility than its predecessors in the KV series. IS-1 tanks were used by the Red Army and the Polish People's Army in the final phase of the war.
